Breathe! If you're anything like me, hearing someone say that word in an attempt to calm me down really doesn't help. It tends to have the opposite effect.
Instead, I offer you a very simple breathing exercise that will allow you to regain control and self-soothe quickly and discreetly.
Heart Math helps the heart and brain work in harmony. When these systems are in balance, the parasympathetic (safety & relaxation) nervous system is activated, and therefore allows our body to secrete neurotransmitters (chemical messengers) that reduce anxiety and fear.
Below, you will find a simple Heart Math exercise. It's a very simple breathing technique that you can do anywhere, anytime. Its effect is exponential. In other words, the more you practice it, the calmer and more in control you will feel in your everyday life.
